Dr. Rachel K Langley, DO, IBCLC, NaPro MC

Family Medicine doctor. Flight surgeon. Veteran. Mother of five.

Dr. Langley grew up in Northern Virginia and will sheepishly admit she attended TJHSS&T, where she was discouraged from becoming a doctor because a doctor’s life is miserable. She followed her heart to Colorado at CU Boulder for college, and was rewarded by meeting and marrying the love of her life through church. Together they have taught middle school, helped homeless families, and finally attended medical school when nothing else seemed quite right. Together they chose to join the Air Force and have lived in 5 locations, picking up a baby at each along the way. When it was finally time to settle down, they chose Colorado Springs to be close to family and build their dream homestead. She was so surprised at how happy she could be taking care of patients in her own independent medical clinic and now she’s hooked!

Dr. Langley attended Kansas City University of Medicine and Bioscience, graduating in 2011. She completed residency in family medicine at Nellis AFB in Nevada, and is board certified. She specializes in lactation, sports medicine, and assisting fertility through NaProTechnology. She continues to serve in the Air Force Reserves.

Read more about her in the Voyage Denver introduction from 2020 or on her speaker page here.

Poppy Pumpkin, the miniature Jersey

In spite of our gardens, chickens, geese, turkeys, and bees, it was Poppy that made us feel like we have finally reached ‘homestead’ status, and thus helped create our clinic name.

She is an energetic heifer who likes to go on walks to find fresh grass (and even short sprints across the field). She provides excellent pies for our gardens and fields. She is due with her first calf in April 2024, and we are excited for the milk!

Sports medicine expertise

Sports medicine expertise

Trying to be more active? It seems everyone is in this great state! Dr. Langley is well-versed in sports and injuries and can help you on your way with diagnosis and treatment of what’s hurting, including formulating a home exercise recovery program, or referring you to a physical therapist to do so at a reasonable rate. Dr. Langley personally enjoys skiing, stand up paddle boarding, and sprint triathlons (why pick between running and biking and swimming when they are all good??). Her kids keep begging to go rock climbing and she is always happy to oblige. She ran track in high school (hurdles and high jump were the most fun), and is a personal fan of the minimalist running approach.

NaProTechnology

To better understand women’s health

Struggling with fertility is a personal and delicate struggle. Dr. Langley has trained in her favorite method of Natural Family Planning, the Creighton Method, and been certified as a Medical Consultant to interpret charts and recommend medications and procedures to maximize fertility. She can also help with unclear results (yellow stamps) and spotting that confuses signs, especially when postpartum or avoiding pregnancy. Her favorite part of NFP is being able to interpret women’s cycles to know exactly when to start medications, or precisely when to check labs for the most helpful results. Counting to day 14 and hoping that that’s ovulation day just isn’t good enough!
